Connect Keyfive to your demand response programs and energy market data.
Keyfive can bring utility program events and market prices in beside your batteries and generators. With Energy Intelligence embedded in your site systems, it can plan and run each response inside your equipment limits and hold back the backup reserve you set.
How Keyfive connects to your systems.
Keyfive works alongside the demand response programs, distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS), and market tools you already use. It reads program events, prices, and schedules. It sends back what your site can deliver and how it responded. Keyfive doesn’t bid or trade in energy markets.

Demand response and DERMS integration
When a utility program calls an event, Keyfive can check what your site can safely give, based on battery charge, equipment health, and on-site load, and offer only that. With Energy Intelligence embedded, Keyfive can dispatch your batteries and generators for the event, or hold back when the site needs its reserve. Afterward, it can report the metered response from your own meter data.
Common systems: Uplight, EnergyHub, and Generac Concerto
Energy market and trading integration
Keyfive can bring market prices, demand, and forecasts in beside the generators and batteries that can respond to them, and alert your team as a peak approaches. With Energy Intelligence embedded, it can schedule generation and battery discharge around peak windows. Keyfive can also share battery health, availability, and derates with your bidding software, so your bids can account for what the site can deliver.
Common systems: Ontario IESO market data and Fluence Mosaic
Don’t see your system?
The systems above are common examples, not a complete list. Keyfive’s data architecture is flexible, so we can connect to the demand response programs, DERMS, and market tools you already use. If your system isn’t listed, we can scope a connection for it during onboarding.
What you get.
Commitments your site can keep
Keyfive can offer only the capacity your site can deliver, within your equipment limits.
Your backup reserve comes first
You set the reserve rules, and Keyfive can sit out or scale back an event when the site needs its reserve.
A record of every event
Keyfive can keep a metered record of what ran, when, and why.
EXAMPLE
What this could look like in practice.
Take a distribution center with a battery and a backup generator, enrolled in a utility flexibility program. Here’s how the same program event could play out with and without Keyfive connected.
| Without Keyfive | With Keyfive | |
|---|---|---|
| Getting the event | The event notice lands in a program portal or an inbox, and someone has to catch it in time. | Keyfive can receive the event and plan the site’s response. |
| Deciding what to offer | The team guesses how much the battery can give, or skips the event to be safe. | Keyfive can offer only what the site can deliver, based on charge, equipment health, and load. |
| Running the response | Someone changes setpoints by hand and hopes the battery isn’t needed for backup that night. | With Energy Intelligence embedded, Keyfive can dispatch the battery and hold back the reserve you set. |
| Proving what happened | Settlement questions mean digging through meter exports long after the event. | Keyfive can report the metered response for the event and keep the record. |
Illustrative example. Your setup depends on the systems you run and the rules you choose.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Keyfive uses market data and shares site information with your bidding software. Your team or your bidding software makes the bids.
-
No. The program software runs the program. Keyfive runs your site’s response to it.
-
Yes. Keyfive can apply your rules, like a minimum battery reserve, and reduce or decline a commitment when they apply.
-
Batteries, generators, and controllable loads that Keyfive already monitors at your site.
-
To dispatch equipment, yes. Energy Intelligence is embedded in your site’s systems and scoped with your team. Without it, Keyfive can still bring in program and market data, alert your team, and report what ran.
-
Reliability Intelligence can track run hours and equipment wear from program runs, so you can weigh that wear when you decide which events to join.
-
Keyfive can manage it for you, or your team can own parts of it with our support.
